That’d be hard. The only way I see that possible is
to do some ppv (or other subscription type) channel whose subscribers
would go through periodical psychological/psychiatric evaluations and
the ones too impressionable/unbalanced denied the service. Right?

Ryan, cigarettes also make big bucks. And they were
still forbidden on TV. As for Cube, I’ve seen two of the series only. I
had a hard time seeing them, because they are also quite cruel. I pick
on all of them! I don’t say we should not see them. It is a personal
choice. But they should be, as cigarettes, consumed only when the
damage is strictly limited.

Cause they make big bucks. People are attracted to
destruction. People like to be scared. So they need movies like these.
Besides, if you really want to pick on such a movie, take a look at the
Cube series, which have the most unnecessary violence and gore.

Ryan, liking or not liking the movie is ok, as long
as you are more or less of an adult
But the cruelty and grotesque and the never-able-to-stop-me evilness is
pure murder on young and impressionable brains. Or on those already
inclined towards cruelty. Why play with dangerous weapons?

Great series… But Saw IV ? Are you kidding me?
Jigsaw and Amanda both died at the end of Say III, so who’s going to do
all the “fun” stuff now?
There is one point where I have to agree with you, though. While
watching the Hannibal series, I was very aware that it’s just a
psychological movie made after a great book. But that was not the case
with Saw. It has the same “tension” and psychological games from
Hannibal, but mixed with the grotesque scenes usually found in your
average highschool-hoties-get-shlashed-one-by-one horror movies (the
legacy of Scream, if you ask me, but that one actually had a story…)
to give you the only movie that made me think “these kind of people are
real. The true stories on Discovery are TRUE.” And… I forgot what my
point was… But great series, nonetheless!

I agree 5 o’clock news are just as bad! And yes,
preference is not relevant when there are no real options. Maybe things
will change, at some point. Yes, there is, not solvable unfortunately.
But Bloglines works, there’s a button on my left sidebar.

well, you’re probably right…
but, hey! since the main stations provide violent
deaths&rapes¬ censored accidents at 5 o’clock in the
evening.. what to expect from the big hollywood producers?
it’s their cliche: we give people what they want to see! not true, they
don’t have alternatives….
I recommend you “bowling for columbine: by Michael Moore. He has some
pretty interesting concepts and proofs as to the media influence on
violence in America (as opposed to Canada).
