Of Choices and Thier Purpose

Why is it that a Romanian company with 60% of its customers (according to the company’s site) being from Romania and with a .ro domain name has English content only? What happened to the Romanian version? I would say they are mostly oriented on foreign markets, but if so, why would you promote your company blog, which is in Romanian? Wouldn’t it be wiser to have a bilingual site? Or at least to not promote a blog that may be accessed by people who will then have issues understanding any word of it, thus wasting their time? If a company wants to build its customers’ trust, I don’t see how causing time losses fits this objective. Just my two cents!

what company???? :P From my experience… maybe it was technologically harder to implement
a bilingual site… and than they choosed English. As a kurtosis to
    their foreign clients.

    oops…
    sorry. courtesy, not kurtosis.

Bogdan, I can understand the decision to have an
English only site. But then, why is the blog in Romanian. Moreover, why
do Romanian blog headlines get on the English page? No one would
understand and if they do check the blog, they will end up
disappointed. If you look close enough through the blogroll, you’ll
    find out :P

Exactly, too bad it was not a prize competition :)

Ha ha… what language do they speak in Romania anyway? :D

Well, it’s quite obvious why their website is in
english. Romania was never an english colony AFAIK, but most people
seem able to speak english. With english teachers like Bruce Willis,
Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Shakira, Britney Spears, Bill
Gates (especially Bill, through his pirated Windows operating system)
and others, it’s impossible not to speak it. So, if you can hit two
birds with one stone, why not do it? :) Now, for their blog, it’s in
romanian so, while both romanians and foreigners understand it, only
romanians understand this one. One thing I can think about is that
foreigners want business, while romanians want entertainment. And
blogging is not business. Resources down to a minimum, everyone’s happy :) How’s that? :D

Actually, Radu, the blog is a business tool for
them. And it is a business tool that is mostly used in foreign
countries. Therefore, foreigners might want to find out more about how
    their PR people think :)
