World’s Top PR Blogs, According to AdAge

Matthew Watson, author of From PR to Eternity, has just released his October list of top PR blogs. The list includes 75 blogs, sorted by the AdAge Power 150 top. Matthew updates his list every month and it seems to be growing. I actually submitted my blog to AdAge after seeing Matthew’s August list. If you’d like to list your PR, marketing or advertising blog, click here.

It’s nice to see quite a significant percentage of my marketing and PR reading list among the world’s best English speaking PR blogs, as well as dear friends like Barbara Rozgonyi.

Based on its current AdAge position (483), Words of a Broken Mirror should be the 37th on Matthew list. Which makes me feel quite proud! Hope to finally make the official list next month!

Fresh New Look for WoBM

Hi everyone! As of late last night, Words of a Broken Mirror has a new theme, designed especially for me by Alex Cristache of Blogsessive through his amazingly creative design company, QBKL. We went for a more professional and clean look, staying true to a red based color scheme. Because I am a red maniac and luckily for me Alex indulges this weakness of mine :)

I want to thank hig again for designing the theme, helping me implement it, and taking the time to explain things to me so that I could understand his point of view. I can be a designer’s nightmare if I really put my mind to it, you know! :)

I’d really love to hear what you have to say about the new look. I hope you all love it, as I am thrilled with how my pr and marketing blog looks like right now!

A Book a Week: Simon Kernick – Relentless

Relentless coverRelentless is a crime/thriller novel written by Simon Kernick. I discovered this book (mine has the exact same cover) in front of a pet store in Oludeniz. The owner was selling used books for one Turkish lira each (about 1.5 EUR) to raise money for an animal charity. I got three books from there and gave an extra lira for the sake of the animals.

It was an interesting read about what cruel, scary and out of the ordinary things can happen to careless man who has no idea what crimes are going on in near him. It is also a story about what seems to be a perfect relationship is actually on the verge of a major break down, with hidden affairs and divorce plans.

Everything happens in a few days, the rythm is allert and it really is the kind of book you can’t put down once you’ve started it. But I don’t know if I’d read a second book by Kernick. At the end of Relentless, there was an excerpt from his recently published (at that time) novel and the beginning seemed to follow the same pattern as the book I had finished. An initial paradise that turns into the mother of all crimes, all happening in a couple of days. It’ reminded me of Dan Brown, whose Angels and Demons is written using the same type of pattern as The Da Vinci Code.

I did love reading a book in British English for a change, I missed both the spelling and some of the phrases :) .

Have you read a different book by Kernick? What do you think?
