I have just found this site and its filled with some great information.

I have to agree with this comment "The golden rule to follow? Join, listen, connect, add value to ongoing conversations, start your own dialogues." This is the whole point to social networking, and if you doing it in business, this is how one gets great feed back and it helps with improving or just finding out that people like what you are doing, I myself have not join a social networking thing, I just have been doing a lot of reading about it and it really does sound like a good thing to get into.

Agree, celebrities don't exactly need to capitalize on social media. They are already in the public eye enough, right? There are ways to capitalize on their popularity however. Like for instance on Twitter, if you can gain their attention and receive an @relpy, bingo! Your name is now out there for all of their followers to investigate? "Who is this StrickerOnline and why did Shaq mention him...?" Anyone follow?

Alexander, you are right, some of these celebrity twitter accounts and blogs are about what people want to hear. better said, about what some people want to hear :)

Genesis, I follow a few, out of curiosity. Plus watching and seeing is quite revealing of both stars and their fans. And if we use a certain tool according to our reasons, then there's nothing wrong with how they use it. us normal folk should just not copy them :)

Great article. I´ve only followed one celebrity because, frankly, I don´t care what most of them have to say! But it´s true, they are there for different reasons than us "normal" folk. ;)

I really find you post really informative and does make sense. In the other hand some stars just say what people want to hear from them, no hearts feeling but most of the time it is scripted even in blogs where so many people can read it.

Sarah, you could get a twitter account and see how you like it. it might or might not be your thing, but depending on your goals with it, it could be quite an interesting and rewarding experience.

Brad, great one! :D Indeed, sometimes they might just seem oblivious of everything surrounding them. But there are exceptions!

Alina, You nailed it. My only criticism of your post is the title of point #1 had two words too many at the end. :)
