I am at the point now where I have that much daily spam that I could well be missing something
worth reading amongst them but don’t have the time to filter through them to find out !

Hanne, some do earn money. But I assure you they don’t from tweeting about mafia wars. That’s why it seems so silly to me: no purpose and no result other than annoying everybody.

This spammers are really hard to avoid because they earn money for spamming a message or whatever. I only wish that Twitter should do something about it to filter them out of our sight. For now I am just choosing wisely to which Twitter message I should follow to avoid some web disturbances.

Karen, I know for most of people spamming the explanation is not knowing. But if you’re on twitter you cannot miss all the tweets about how annoying it is! And you might stop to check it. I know accounts are really easy to hacked into. Heck, someone used one of my yahoo accounts to send spam to all my contacts. But this has been going on for weeks, I’m sure you can’t really miss it. And if you do, a harsher warning should make you finally realize what’s going on

Alina, I agree. Yesterday someone else remarked that they had received a Mafia DM from the President of a PR firm. I don't play the game but am told that there is a DM opt out that many may be missing. I would ask the guy about it, it's possible his account was hacked and he doesn't know.
