Karen, you are quite right! Information is out there, withing reach, we sometimes thing it's all it takes. We forget about experience, in depth knowledge and in the case of press releases and any form of writing, we actually do believe that reading some dos and donts will really cut it.

I also understand the budget is always limited, you cannot afford to get all you need. But if you embark on a DIY road, you should at least be aware of the limitations.

Alina, great post! You have captured perfectly the fallout of our DIY mentality. The web has made it easy for us to find and share information and as such leads us to believe we know more than we really do. People buy medicines over the net because they have read about conditions and symptoms. They write and distribute press releases because they have followed a template. Yet, reading about a thing and having the specialized knowledge to understand the nuances are very different.
