New Outfit for WOBM

Did all of you know Mig was the greatest? Well, I am saying it again. And will keep on saying it for a long while now. Why?

  1. She can put up with me in my “DeeDee” moments
  2. She knows so much about wordpress, seo, html etc
  3. She does things out of sheer goodness
  4. She’s got a really cool voice on the phone :P

Well, as you can all see, my blog has a new theme up and running. Mig is responsible for most of the customization work, I stood in her way all the time and…messed up things a bit :)) Also did minor adjustments when she was not around to stop me :D

So, thank you so much for your help, Mig, for the award you made my day with and generally for being yourself :) Hope you guys enjoy WOBM’s new home and design.

There Actually Is a Reason for My Absence

As you all know, I’ve been promising and promising my blog will finally be transfered from GoDaddy to THC. I finally managed to do so, thus the lack of GoDaddy ads. The transfer took five days, and for backup reasons, I chose not to blog that much. It was mostly for nothing, as the transfer did not go that smoothly.

Actually it went bad, especially after the mess Wordpress did with its own exported file with posts and comments. When I uploaded it, I had no categories, no headlines and it was all a mess. Therefore, if you’ve linked to some of my posts, the links might no longer work. Some of the headlines are definitely changed, as I couldn’t remember them all. The photos are also pretty much gone :(

Still, I have a big thank-yous to say every day for a while now to Eric from THC and to Mig. They both helped me a lot in the process. The look of WOBM will of course be different soon enough, as this is just and intermediary solutions.

I do apologize for my absence and hope you guys will be back to read the posts and comment, after this long update time-out and after having the whole blog down for about 2 days. I am happy I transfered it, as it turns out everything will be better!

Quick Update

Yes, I am guilty of really neglecting my blogs and my list of daily reads…I apologize. The reason is work. We’ve been all busy with a press conference we’ve organized for a pretty important announcement. I won’t say to much about the actual announcement, you can all read it here.

But I have to tell you I’m really happy with how it all went. It was the first press conference I co-organized and the results are pretty amazing. Although I was a bit stressed and I was always paying way too much attention to all details. There’s also downside and it’s represented by some journalists. I really fail to understand why some are so keen on using bombastic headlines when the news under the headline tells a different story. I learned that if the headline makes the audience expect a specific piece of information that is not delivered afterwards, the headline should not be used. Maybe things have changed in some respects. But I doubt it’s ok to publish inaccurate information.

Anyway, I hope my blog will never experience such a complete lack of updates. Or that at least it won’t happen very soon :) Nice to be back and nice to see you all again!

Don’t Miss the Dalai Lama’s Speech

The International Campaign for Tibet announced that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is to receive the United States Congressional Gold Medal on October 17, 2007. Given this occasion, the Dalai Lama will also address the public. The speech will be broadcasted online, starting at 17.00 CET. Should you like to register for the webcast, go here.

Thank you, Bart, for letting me know.

Our New Appartment

You could say I’ve been a very lazy blogger. It is partially true. But at least I have a good reason! D and I have moved to a new place. We now live together in a nice studio apartment, 20 minutes from work. Now you can all imagine how our weekend has been: moving furniture, clothes and other such luggage. And we’re not done carrying and arranging yet. But we’re happy.

So I am back, will catch up with my postponed entries and the blog reading and the commenting in a few days. In other news, my senior year at the Romanian American University started yesterday. Hopefully, if I can stick to my grand one year plan, I will be getting my license for both departments (journalism and tourism economics) next year. Wish me luck!
