CoSoSys – making the ad

Sometimes work is purely fun and I feel bad getting paid for it. Like being there when this fun ad was created for one of the Mirror Communications clients, CoSoSys, vendor of leading endpoint security and data loss prevention solutions.

The ad is meant to emphasize how a company can simply not worry about thieves coming in and trying to steal their sensitive data. More on data loss and theft, how to prevent it and how serious it can be here.

Hope you enjoy the ad! Oh, and I challenge you to find me in the ad :D

If I were a random artist, I’d definitely ROCK!

Daniel Secareanu has tagged me with a wonderful meme that definitely suits a Sunday evening. A random artist is created using random creativity, and here’s what band I’d be in and the name of our very first album!

Elstree Calling - In the middle of it

Do you want to play? Here’s how to decide on your band name, your album name and the artwork to be used on the cover. If you like it too much, well, you can actually use it and start writing songs :)

  1. Go to Wikipedia. Use the “random” search option or click here. The name of the first article you find will be your band’s name.
  2. Next, go to “Random quotations” or click this link. The last three-four words of the last quote on the page will be your album’s name.
  3. Then, go to Flicker and access the photos posted in the last seven days, or click here. The third photo displayed, no matter what it is, will be your album’s cover. As my friend Loredana noticed, you should also check if there’s any copyright or creative commons for that photo and make sure you can a. use it and b. modify it. You should keep going from one photo to the next till you reach you can use. In my case, it took checking out the entire first page, reloading and then checking a few more. Original photo here.
  4. Lastly, use your preferred photo editing software or online tool to put everything together.

If you read this and you’re inspired to see what your first album would look and sound like, consider yourself tagged!

Monday Reading Roundup Take #6

What I think you shouldn’t have missed last week…

Reading Welcome everyone! This week’s edition of our Monday Reading Roundup if significantly affected by the holiday breeze. Meaning it’s a combination of new stuff, new finds, humor, crazy news and interesting articles. Hope you enjoy it as much as you enjoyed previous ones.

First of all, I have to tell you all that Alex of Blogsessive has released a free WordPress theme called Simple Balance that you can download and use on your blog. It looks amazing, so consider it in your blog redesign plans.

I’ve also find an extremely cool site on tea, Ya-Ya’s Tea Bord. As I know a few of my readers are tea lovers, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

Speaking of crazy news, Geeks Are Sexy reported that a teen tried to sell his vote on eBay. When the police came knocking on his door, he’s excuse was it had all been a joke. Seems like everything is up for sale on eBay these days :)

Jonathan Fields has brought an interesting question to my (and your) attention: are smartphones actually making us dumber? It appears they are. I for one, if deprived of my phone, would be unable to contact any of my relatives or close friends.

Now that you’ve relaxed, had fun and sighed at others’ craziness, it’s time to relax. A guest post on Blissful Travel on the Thai island of Lipe. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be there than in the office :)

Matt Jones of Blogging Fingers states it’s possible to make more money by blogging less. And he has also done a terrific job at explaining us how to achieve such a goal.

And instead of conclusions, I give you John Jantsch of Duct Tape Marketing explaining how cheap gas makes us lazier and how the rise in gas price comes with more physical exercises.

I hope you’ve had fun reading these fine articles and blogs. See you all next week for another round of summery readings.
